At 10.15am each day the Lady Knox Geyser provides a unique opportunity to see a geyser in eruption to heights of 10 to 20 metres.
Awesome falls. Make sure you walk the 2 minutes to the other viewpoint as it's amazing to see how much water pounds over into the river below.

Don't underestimate this mountain: the steep angle (35-45°) and the loose stones in summer make it quite a long (2h) and exhausting climb.
Well sign-posted 20km track with time estimates of how long each section would take. Be respectful and DO NOT touch the water when you reach emerald lakes or throw stones.
Don't underestimate the trail, the 19km has a lot of elevation! Consider that before going up Mt. Doom ;)
Otaki Beach is a fantastic place, so much to see and do, be sure to watch the sunset over Kapiti Island, it's beautiful!
Amazing free museum, with great exhibits! Really good gift shop too with some great items and reasonably priced...they don't try to gouge you like most gift shops.

Kaiteriteri has to be the best beach in the world! The drive out is pleasant and the view is stunning. Take a watertaxi ride out water or eat fish n chips on the sand. - Paul
Split Apple Rock is the one of famous iconic object in Abel Tasman National Park :D. The rock itself is like an apple that slice in the middle, so Strange but Fantastic!
Take a kayak and meet the baby sea lions close to Adele Island, so cute!
Turn your torch off when you get near the glow worms. Light kills them ! And if you need to talk, Whisper ! And definitely, NO CAMERA FLASH !
Kiwi enclosure is worth a look as are the eels but the rest is very dated and could use some renovation - if you're heading South towards Franz Josef the West Coast Wild Life Centre is a better choice
The lagoon is a really beautiful area where more than 70 bird species live. And it's only 15km north from Franz Josef Glacier.
Can't get as close to the glacier as you can at Fox Glacier, but the walk is much easier. We got treated to a gorgeous rainbow across the valley though :)
Great place to see live Kiwis and maybe even a chick. Money goes toward helping this rare species of bird. Only 375 individuals left.
A beautiful lake. Go early in the morning for the best chance of the lake being still for the reflection of the mountains.
Not as cool as Franz Josef glaciers, since there’s almost none glacier left to spot and the walk up there it more steep and tiring, but if you’re around you might go enjoy the walk.
This is the highest mountain in NZ (3724m). The Hooker Valley Track leads you to the beautiful glacier lake after crossing 3 swing bridges.
Do the round trip! Great views on the way up and on the way back down! Tough stuff on the way up but rewarding when you reach the top!

Definitely worth the experience! Cave worms inside the cave is very awesome, learn about their life cycle and to see them alive is once in a lifetime experience
Get a least 5 rides with your gondola ticket. It's such good fun that you will want more!
Take the Kepler boat, next to Real Journeys to the other side of the lake and have a wonderful 2 hour walk.
One of the rare beaches you can drive on. Beautiful. Can be a bit windy but a special place at the bottom of the world :)
What a view of the surrounding area! Truly incredible and awe-inspiring. There's a small car park at the top if you don't want to walk up from Stirling Point. Bring a jacket since it can be windy.
We didn't stay for the penguins and didn't see any seals or sea lions, but we did see lots of snails and petrified trees. Really beautiful and unique.
Nice walk and great views of the cliffs and rocks. Look carefully to spot the seals playing.
Most beautiful view ever. If you don't go here while in the Catlins, you're really missing out. Just lovely. A nice and easy walk to the lighthouse from the parking lot. Nice public restrooms too.

It is awesome. You cannot miss this. Eat at the cafe, pay to walk on their stairs and take a million pictures. This is once I a lifetime stuff.
If you plan to go, splurge on the premium seats. Also: Dress WARMLY. The penguins will not show up until well after sunset.
Stop by the learn to surf vans at the end of Stoke Street for a lesson or to hire a board. Amazing place to learn how to surf. Don't forget the sunblock.
