Billy: This is "the" place for your cultural experience. They have great exhibitions year round, so if you're into art or classical music, definitely check it out.
Billy: Say hi to Yi Soon-Shin and King Sejong in front of the palace where the king himself resided. This is near Insa-dong, which is good for touristy stuff (lots of Korean merchandise), and Jong-ro, which is a cool part where the old and new meet.
Billy: Nam San is literally "South Mountain". It is definitely the favorite mountain for any Seoulite. Multiple hiking options and a cable car, so pick a route and go at it!
Billy: Itaewon is a neighborhood characterized by the word "exotic". Its proximity to the U.S. army base camp has brought in venues of many cultural origins. But among them is this South African joint Braai Republic; they have the best meat pie in Korea. Definitely worth checking out.
Billy: Coex is one of Korea's many multiplexes. It has an aquarium, cinema, shops, food... you name it. If you want to take care of a lot of touring in one place, this is a good place to go.
Billy: Venus Kitchen used to be one of my favorite restaurants when I went near Hongdae. Hongdae is the hotspot for the Korean indie music scene, and it is filled with musicians/art students/people wanting to have fun. Check out the whole Hongdae neighborhood!
Billy: I believe any tourist should make room for some history lessons when visiting Korea. This museum used to be a prison for Koreans under Japanese rule and now is renovated as a museum.
Billy: Yeoido is the center for finance, tv stations, and government operations. The national assembly building is one of the landmarks of Yeoido.
Billy: Oh, how I miss the peaceful Seoul forest. Such a beautiful place packed for anything you need for a peaceful day under the sun.
Billy: Olympic park was built for the 1988 Olympics. Now it is home for skateboard/roller blade/hockey enthusiasts and nature lovers. There's a museum nearby too!
Billy: Of all the Korean BBQ places in Korea, you gotta check this place out. Your meat is cooked over a heated stone, and the best part: they set your bbq on fire. Samgyupsal and soju is the staple to a good Korean BBQ meal.
Billy: I guarantee this is the best champon + tangsooyook you will ever eat. Doesn't have to be this hong kong ban jeom, just go to any one of them.
Billy: UNLIMITED kal gook soo and the BEST gyoza. Get 1 gyoza + 1 kal gook soo per 2 people, because the kal gook soo is refillable with NO LIMITS. Run out of broth? ask for broth. Run out of noodles? have some more.
Billy: The BEST tonkatsu in Seoul in my opinion. The cordon bleu comes with CHEESE inside the katsu; goes great with the Japanese beer.
Billy: This is a market, but best known for the wide variety of great street food. The Korean pancakes here are considered the best.
Billy: Great meat sashimi and other meat choices here. But if I had to choose one, I'd get the meat sashimi.
Billy: Such a peaceful place with great Ddeok galbi and Kimchi cold noodles. Enjoy the atmosphere of Sam cheong dong with great food.
Dai: I think I remember they close kinda early, but it's a pretty cool modern art museum.
Dai: Full of tourists, but there's a nice hike up and down, or you can take the cable car for $$$.
Dai: Again, not Korean... but you have to get the coronarita at least once if you haven't had one before.
Dai: Nice place to hang out with a view by the river. Also I think a scene in Avengers 2 was filmed here.
suhl chin: If you can't get to the DMZ, this is a great option. Gives you a real feel for the way the war affected all involved. Free tours in English.
Shelly: Or any of the shopping malls in Dongdaemun. Very different than here in the US and very entertaining.
