They make a killer flat white! Beautiful space, great tunes and gorgeous coffee cups. I love this place already.
The granola, avocado toast and shakshuka are all popular choices here, but the power lentils really blew us away. Definitely recommended!
Come 2 hours before closing time for free tickets. Unless you are an art history buff, you don’t really need more than 90 minutes here.
Currently under renovation, but you wouldn’t know. The foyer is modern and the new rooms are great.
What an unexpected delight. Come during or just after sunset to contrast the lights with the colours in the sky. Entry is only €3 and great value.
Modern tapas bar with great variations you won’t find at the traditional bars. The grilled leeks and a must! The sardines, steak and traditional Spanish salad with prawns were also great.
I can not recommend enough that you book tickets in advance. You skip the huge line out the front and walk straight in. You can book online for the same day too.
Everything here was amazing. Sit at the bar and watch everyone at work (and the beautiful fresh meat and seafood on display). We LOVED the octopus with paprika, the tomatoes with anchovies and dessert

A locals bar in the centre of all the tourist spots. Stand at the bar and order a beer and a few tapas. They write your tab in chalk on the bar.
A local coffee roaster, selling mostly beans but also makes one of the best espressos I’ve ever had. And only €1.50!
Had an amazing meal of tapas here. The spinach and chickpeas was good, but the stand out was the Alcachofas Plancha (grilled artichokes). Great value and great vibe.
Expensive! The food is brilliant, but €33 for a single prawn appetiser and €20 for a cocktail is very expensive. The music and ambiance was great.
Unfortunately most of the items being sold in the market are cheap Chinese made items, but there are some fun crafts and old antiques towards the end of the market. Just keep walking!
Heaven for Spanish food filled with endless options for wine, ham, and tapas. It's a heated market that reminds me of Eataly in NYC.
If you want to sit in the beautiful cafe, get in the left line to order, and then the right line to sit down. But if you walk 10m down the street there is also a takeout version with shorter lines.
Excellent tour from Enrique. Took about 3 hours with a break in the middle and walked all over the old part of Madrid. Highly recommended.
Famous sweet shop. People come for breakfast and get a hot chocolate and pastry for breakfast and eat it at the counter.
