HISTORY: The Golden Gate Bridge was the longest suspension bridge span in the world when it was completed in 1937, & has become an internationally recognized symbol of San Francisco and CA.

David Sanger: The island on the south side of the bridge, mid-span, is Red Rock. Three counties come together there, Contra Costa, Marin & San Francisco. It is the northernmost point in the City of San Francisco
