The Kobe slider appitizer is worth the trip. Good roast beef and turkey dinners as well. They turkey burger and pesto healthy plate is a great option for those working on counting calories.
Go after work with some friends. Order some 10% ABV beer. Split some (amazing) shoe-string fries and don't feel guilty about eating that burger (it's so worth it).

One of the best diners in LA. Definitely something to consider for a post-Friday night date coffee/dessert/milkshake. If you're in the mood for breakfast, the Huevos Rancheros is amazing.
Great asian grocery. One of the few places that I've been to that sells sushi-grade fish so you can do it at home. Excellent Sake selection to boot! The Food Court, Bakery, and Bookstore are bonus.
Better for dinner than for lunch. Definitely get a reservation if its a Friday or Saturday night. Ginja Roll and Salmon on Crispy Rice are choice. Also their Gekkeikan Hot Sake is the best.

Great brunch spot/pastry shop/bookstore! Eat outside if possible. I always love Huevos Rancheros but their crispy tortilla here is a (deliciously) great touch. Try the breakfast cocktails too.
Amazing gastropub with an excellent drink list and happy hour specials. Love the Salumi plate and you can't go wrong with any of the flatbreads (though the Butter Chicken has to be my favorite).
Definitely try the spicy tuna ad crispy rice appetizer. It's amazing! We really enjoyed the "Poochi Poochi" sparkling Sake - super light and a reasonable price!
The Buretta Pizza is Phenomenal, portioning is a little big for one so splitting a pizza and appetizer seems to be the optimal approach. Also: indie sodas!
The Kale Salad purportedly took the chef 5 years to perfect. Which is probably why it's amazing. Personal pizzas are delicious + perfectly portioned. Definitely get the meat + cheese plates to share.
Great people watching if you sit outside. The charcuterie plate is delicious (especially the chicken liver!) - and you can't go wrong with a burger, though the chicken baguette is also quite yummy!
Come with an appetite. Bulgogi and Short ribs are excellent. Outside seating is the best choice. The rice tea at the end of the meal seals the deal for me.
If you're in Long Beach this is the place to drink. Great beer selection, but I personally enjoyed their Lemonade+Citrus Vodka Cocktail. If you're not super hungry, the pretzel is a great starter.
Really great for a casual date. Romantic setting (sit outside if you can!) - the food is wonderful, the pricing is reasonable, their Risotto specials are amazing and the (Chocolate) Souffle is a must.
Hot Stone Rice Bowl is the best deal. Let it crisp at the bottom for an ultimate delicious ending. Seafood pancake is also phenomenal, and comes on a hot plate! Reasonable prices and good food!
BLTA is hands down one of my favorite sandwiches. They also now have free delivery for locals (here's looking at you Chiat/Deutsch kids!)
