This place is a true sensation. The food is food, great ambiance and the staff is super friendly and really professional. This place is the spot when you have something to celebrate.
Liked the deep fried menu! great calamari and oysters! the rice plate and, green teacheesecake were good!LOVED the black sesame ice cream and sky of Tokyo cocktail! Beer glasses are super large though
Yellowtailtuna and squid were both fantastic. Be ready for a wall of noise when you enter. Not a place for a quiet bite to eat unless you book the deck outside. Excellent food and good fun.
The Village’s Izakaya is the original from this (originally west coast) Japanese-style pub chain, and its dining experience is not like British pubs to say the least. [Eater 38 Member]
The cheesy oysters were very delicious. The scallops and sashimi were very fresh (close to Japan quality), and the karage (fried chicken) was pretty good as well. I would highly recommend this place.
Crazy livelyIzakaya joint in downtown. You should probably make a reso because it's usually very busy and wait times can be up to an hour on Fridays and Saturdays.
We had the 9 courses meal, and every single dish surprised us tremendously; the first dish was phenomenal and each one after, was better than the previous one. 100 points and 100% recommended.
Definitely one of my favorite places in Toronto. The staff is amazing and the ambiance is great. The food is mouthwatering. I definitely recommend saba misoni and the takoyaki.
Try this: the Kakimayo baked oysters (!!) the deep fried Brie cheese, the seaweed salad, the Gyu carpaccio, the black sesamespinach. End with the deep fried coconutbananas. Enjoy!
Aka Guu. A fave experience in Toronto. Festive/noisy/crazy. Octopus salad with nori, bibimbap like no other I've had, fried chicken cartilage if available. Can be a long wait. 💛👍🏼🍢🍶
I came to Toronto to visit a few friends, and I fell in love with Guu Izakaya! Seriously, the music and food combine to create an amazing dining atmosphere!
PRIDE 2012 TIP: Guu makes dinner into a wild and wacky party. It's hard enough to get into at the best of times, but once you're seated the food is great (it's not a sushi joint, it's Japanese food.) \nПодробнее
Worth the wait. Yes you'll be standing in the cold for an hour or so, but they have blankets and any food you order will be on the table right away. Everything is delicious so eat your faces off.
Very lively with a good atmosphere, the entire staff will greet anyone that walks through door and what I mean by that is that they all yell hello Lol. Small portions so watch how much you order.
One of the best and most consistent meal experiences you can have. Incredible Japanese tapas in an upbeat lively environment. Try the Deep Fried Brie, Ebimayo, and the Karubi. More like this at WRG. \nПодробнее
the atmosphere is loud & upbeat. not a place for a romantic dinner. go with 4-5 ppl, so you can try more dishes. everything on their menu is worth the try! i have too many favs to list.
Oh yeah...and they have BEST karaage ever (deep fried, boneless chicken). It was even good as take-out! A must must must try. Topped off with a lemon wedge and mayo and well worth the calories.
Spicy sauce for the chicken karage is very spicy, but grows on you 🤤 Saketiramisu had unevenly distributed sake, preserved super salty sakuras, a let-down for us.
Almond tofu, sesame & coconut ice-cream are the first things to keep in mind before you order so you will have space for them!!! Grilles black cod and oysters and fried udon are the main dishes.
If you're ok with an early dinner, go a bit before 5 to guarantee a seat at opening. Favorites: okonomiyaki, fried kabocha, deep fried brie cheese, ikapiri, gyu carpaccio. Drinks: White Sakegria, plum
lively and wonderful atmosphere! The okonomiyaki is a wonderful thing. Takoyaki was ok. It's fun to shout with the workers. Probably grab a beer first though ;)
Am beginning to think you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Except dessert (icky deep fried ice cream seems an afterthought.) But no one cared 'cause everything else is izakaya heaven!!
It is brutally loud. The food was delicious but the service was terrible. We waited more than 40 mins for our order. The waitress was incredibly rude. If I could leave negative 2 stars I would.
Go at 5 to avoid the lineup. Friendly, enthusiastic staff. Grilled oyster was a treat, and the sashimi salad was delicious. The portions aren't very filling, but it's a cool experience overall.
