You will go. You will wait in line (even in low tourist season). You will marvel at the beauty. You will struggle to take a photo past the other tourists. You will not find a good book in English.
As both a book and Harry Potter fan, this place was absolutely magical for me. One of the most gorgeous bookshops I have ever seen! 3 euro fee to get in though, and be prepared for crowds.
Beautiful but a bit annoying. Having to pay €3 to go inside is a bit absurd. But if you go, I recommend buying the ticket one day and going there right before you open. You'll go in before everyone
Wood and books makes you feel like a fairy tale. But very touristic, does not let you feel the real athmosphere. You can claim back entrance fee if you buy a book.
Vale a visita.
It’s famous with good reason. Apart from the Harry Potter craze, ti’s wonderful to see and worth the €5 ticket. Pick up a book and the entrance fee is deducted from the price!
It's a touristic hook. Absolute madness. Don't let anyone trick you into going there and waiting in a long-long line. Go get a good old glass of port instead.
You can't come to Porto and not visit Lello, but note that the books are seriously overpriced, plus the bar upstairs is severely understocked (no milk). Otherwise, this is where the magic happened!
Quite busy, too many people, only portuguese books available or rather a very tiny selection of books in English/other languages is available. Place where "Harry Porter" books allegedly were "born".
Impressionante.
In the Top 5 of the most beautiful bookstores in the world, Lello is the first in Top that was actually build to be a bookstore. More than books great architecture and an old style. Amazing to see.
This shop boasts breathtaking Gothic Revival and Art Nouveau architecture, and is suspected to be part of the inspiration for the Harry Potter series' settings. \n
one of the most egregious excesses of capitalism. a bookshopJK Rowling “used to frequent” with no link to Harry Potter turned into a spectacle with absurd premiums, and no room to swing a Kneazle
5 EUR entrance to make picture with another 50 people on it is a good joke. Just go to the nearest bar and get a glass of vine. All this place is huge commerce place providing merchandise everywhere.
It is one of the oldest bookshops in Portugal. In 2011, the Australian Travel Guides and Guidebooks editor Lonely Planet classified Livraria Lello as the third best bookshop in the world.
