My favorite dessert stand in 東區, always drink an almond milk and take one home. Almond tofu good except the yuba I could do without.
Some of the best TW style fried 臭豆腐 I've had (and I eat a lot). Their 蠔仔米線 is also top notch: made with smoked dried oysters - divine.
Friendly service and more locals than tourists at this Taipei coffee institution. Single origin Siphon and espresso drinks made well. Crepes are not bad but not consistent either. Decor negligible
This is hand's down the best 胡椒餅 in Taipei by a long shot. Be prepared to wait of upwards to an hour for straight out of the tandoor goodness.
Never dined-in. Better imported cheese monger and charcuterie without nose bleed prices (ahem city super). Real gems are the Italian wines ... '10 Barbaresco (WS:97pts) for 1000NT!!! A steal
This is where the canto chefs at Sam Want 潮品集 take their afternoon tea and snack. Pricier than other 茶餐廳 in the area but quite decent, small portions.
Beautiful traditional Japanese wooden house architecture, pristinely maintained, gorgeous greenery and a very old mangrove tree. The lacquered wood, tatami, and serenity is ethereal. Wear socks!

I'd hate to say it but this is as close to a banh mi I get in OC, CA or Tenderloin, SF. Dare I say the baguette is better than 90% of the bakeries in TW? Skimpy filling but tasty. Skip the drinks.
Best overall cocktail bar in Taipei. Consistent, casual, good value, and not precious and pretentious. Good food too although avoid the dumplings if you plan on kissing anyone.
Sure the joint around the corner is more bang for your buck but being able to sit down in a clean (if too sterile fluorescent light) environment renders the difference obsolete. Good ice chomp this is
I only order the cold [sic warm] noodles with an egg and the senbei crackers. Both are heavenly. All pickled sides too sweet and other udon dishes don't stand out.
