Hans Peter M.Hans Peter Meyer: My kids' favourite breakfast/brunch spot. Noisy, youthful crowd, excellent food and service. My standard order: Full Monty with extra large Caesar salad. I take half home for dinner.

Hans Peter M.Hans Peter Meyer: Sister to Atlas Cafe in Courtenay (also on this list). One of my top restos in the region. Focus on local product. Great bar, great fresh sheet. Thurs: value for $ on pasta and pizzas.

Hans Peter M.Hans Peter Meyer: Best nachos I've ever eaten. Great lamb burritos. Lots of imagination and fresh fruit (from the garden!) in the margaritas. Excellent service.

Hans Peter M.Hans Peter Meyer: Way off the beaten track. We drove the long torturous road here because we'd heard about the "best" ceviche on the Island. It was pretty good. Next time I'm taking a boat in.
