Go to terminal 4, gate B34 for Shake Shack and Blue Smoke
The food (breakfast) in the Jet Blue terminal's food court is horrible at that little buffet. Cold syrup on rubbery waffles, with powdered eggs. You could do better at a truck stop.

The cafe in Terminal 1 is a nice, civilized experience.
Take the AirTrain from JFK to the E train an get to midtown in under an hour. For less than $10.
Overcrowded, overextended, but the gate to the world — or to NYC!
When they say arrive 2 hrs early they are right!

Aelitis 3SМарт 8, 2014Delta's Terminal is under refurbishment so they moved to Terminal 4. Consequence? No food courts before security. So annoying!
After getting out of a virgin redeye, avoid the first peets coffee which has a long line, and find the peets past security (20 yards past baggage claim stairwell)
TSA Pre Check is amazing when available!
