Our unique approach is designed to address your pregnancy needs & any aches & pains that may accompany it- w/ special attention to areas such as your lower back, buttocks & hips. By gently manipulating your skin through slow, kneading movements, our therapists will work to relieve stress & soothe sore muscles. Note: expectant mother must be at least 20 weeks. Shiatsu incorporates the theories of acupuncture that target the "chi," or body energy, to move it along requisite energy pathways called meridians. It is an asian form known to have an overall calming effect upon the body & can relieve muscle tension, alleviate stress & ease joint stiffness. It does not incorporate oils into the experience & as such, our shiatsu clients can remain fully clothed for the experience if they so desire. Our therapists employ direct thumb, palm & forearm pressure on tight muscles to loosen them up; they also employ pressure w/ their knees to release pressure on large back muscles. The treatments typically are performed on a mat at floor level so our therapist can apply pressure against a hard surface & use his entire body to provide the pressure. The pressure & stretching techniques can realign the structure of the body by clearing energy blocks & moving stagnant energy out of tight places.
