Villecroze is overseen by cliffs whose caves were fortified by Benedictines fearful of Saracens, then fancied up with Renaissance frontages. They’re an extraordinary sight.
Pretty town. Lots of galleries and interiors shops. The pedestrianised centre has roads like spokes in from the ring road. Park at the edge and walk around, it's simple to navigate & has lots to enjoy
So-so hotel, with an nice pool, though crowded and surrounded by the cafe restaurant. In all, it's a pricey "W" wannabe well-situated to explore lovely Loumarin. Nearby Bonnieux a better value.
Very touristy, but in a good way. The last ice cream place before the Fontaine (snack glacier du poete) has the best combination of price, selection and location!
Many tastes to choose from, also dairy-free sorbets, and not just the usual lemon and raspberry. I had the watermelon sorbet and it was great :)
Very cosy, good food and wine, lovely people. Finally a restaurant in Troyes with a good taste!
30 Minutes tour is enough to get a good impression of the Pommery house, the history of the family and the beautiful temporary art exhibitions in the cellars. Bring a jacket, it's 10 degrees Celcius!
