Giant botanical gardens with miles of paths to stroll around. It gets really hot in the summer so bring water and an umbrella.

Great park with lots of different scenery to explore. Park by the Pygmy Forrest and check that out before doing the Fern Canyon loop for a great easy hike.

You cant pick a more charming town to stay in to explore this part of the world. Beautifully preserved building on a wild headland make for magical nights when you hear the waves from your bedroom.
Absolute gem of a winery set up in an old mill that makes for an idyllic tasting on a hot summer day. The Pinots and Gewürztraminer are outstanding. One of the best stops in the valley.
Great little restaurant in a cute Victorian cottage with a lovely outdoor patio and garden. Good seafood and wine selection. One of the best options in town.

Spectacular redwood grove just off the main highway. Make sure you do all the loops of the discovery trail. Empty on early summer mornings when the temperature is 20 degrees lower than the valley.
Great farm and winery. The tour is great with kids. Cheese is more interesting than the wine. The Boont Corner Tomme, Blue and Velvet Sister are stellar. They ship in CA as well!
Wonderful small production winery with great Pinot- the standout being the Charles vineyard. Really friendly tasting service as well.

Good big beach for kids and you can usually find street parking along 8th on weekday mornings. Easy walk to the pier from here.
Great wide beach that is perfect for social distancing during the week with tons of ample parking. And it’s got planes taking off which is cool for kids.
Nice small zoo that is really ideal for kids. Grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. A membership is great for early admission when you can feel like you have the place to yourself.
Good place for a drink with co-workers when here for a conference. Could use a better draft beer selection.

By far one of the best wineries in the valley. The white pinot noir is an outstanding surprise as is the estate red Pinot. Doug is awesome as is the little cottage you can stay in on via Airbnb.
Nice place for an afternoon drink and snack with lots of outside seating in the sweet sweet SoCal sun. A great place to escape to from your conference.
